ITINERARY
Start in Qoricancha – the temple of the Sun
Your City Tour begins at 12:30 p.m. with hotel pickup to explore the highlights of Cusco. The first stop is Qorikancha, the legendary Temple of the Sun. Once the most important religious site of the Inca Empire, Qorikancha was covered in gold and filled with sacred idols, ceremonial gardens, and treasures that reflected the power of the Incas.
Sacsayhuaman and Nearby Ruins
After visiting Qorikancha, you’ll head by bus to the upper part of Cusco to discover 4 incredible Inca sites. First, explore Sacsayhuamán, known for its enormous stone walls—some weighing over 100 tons—expertly fitted without mortar. Next, just five minutes away, visit Q’enqo, a ceremonial site with carved rock altars and underground chambers used for rituals. Continue to Puka Pukara, the “Red Fortress,” which likely served as a military outpost or resting point for travelers.
Tambomachay and Return to Cusco
The final stop is Tambomachay, the Temple of Water, known for its impressive aqueducts and fountains that still flow with fresh water. This site showcases the Incas’ advanced hydraulic engineering.
